Wishlisting Help

1. Install our browser tool

Our browser tool allows you to add items to your wishlist from any web site. Just install the browser tool, find an item you're wishing for, and with a few mouse clicks the item on your screen will be added to your wishlist. Nice and easy!

2. Personalize your account

Vist your settings page to change your picture, customize your shout-out (the text people see when they mouse over your picture), add a gift mailing address, change your email notifications, or track changes to your Amazon.com wishlist.

3. Add people to your friends list

Our People section will help you find friends and family who are already using Wishlisting by searching for their first name, last name or email address. You may also invite your friends via email to view your wishlist or create their own.

Shop with our browser tool

After you've install our browser tool, adding items from your favorite online stores is quick and easy. Simply find the item your are looking for and click the Wishlisting button located in your browser's toolbar. We'll ask you a few questions about the item, then add it to your wishlist.

Find gift ideas on Wishlisting

You can add items to your wishlist from our Shop for Stuff by clicking the heart or star images when viewing an item. This lets others know if you are wishing for or already own the item. If you are viewing an item found on one of Your Friends' wishlist, click the "Add to your wishlist" link.

Create custom items

As convenient as shopping online can be, there will be times when you'll need to create a custom item for gift ideas not available online. This makes it easy to add items like "A Vacation to Italy", "Guitar Lessons", or "Dinner and a Movie" to your wishlist.

Tip: If you purchase or receive an item on your wishlist as a gift, change your heart rating (something you want) to a star rating (something you have). This will let others know how much you like the item and allow you to write a review.

You can search for friends and family who are already using Wishlisting in our People section. Just type in a first name, last name, or email address in the search field and we'll display any Wishlister with matching informtion.

Invite friends to try Wishlisting

Wishlisting is more fun when you do it with friends and family. By emailing a link to your wishlist to friends and family, you can help them buy the perfect gift for you every time. We'll invite them to create a wishlist of their own as well.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I installed the browser button for Internet Explorer, but I don't see it. Where is it?

A: In Internet Explorer 7 the button will appear next to the "Tools" option in the menu bar. However, in many cases that bar is full of other things, and doesn't fit fully on the screen. Internet explorer will show two small arrows (^>>) next to the "Tools" menu in this case. The browser button will be in there.

Q: What stores do you support for price alerts?

Q: I'm an OpenID user, can I still use the browser button?

A: Yes! Due to some technical limitations, you can't log in via OpenID inside the browser tool. However, if you log into the site first, you are also automatically logged into the browser tool. Similarly, if you log out of the site you are also logged out of the browser tool. So, just log into the site first, then shop away.
